To walk

There are several hiking options (click on name for more information):
The Trekvogelpad, also called 'Pieterpad-Overdwars', is the longest nature trail in the Netherlands! It runs from Bergen aan Zee straight through the central Netherlands to Usselo near the German border. A must for ornithologists because the Trekvogelpad passes many bird nature areas. The North Holland peat meadows, the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the sand drifts on the Veluwe and the Achterhoek: the Trekvogelpad shows you all.
Stage 13 (18.7 km) from Amerongen to the Grebbeberg is 3 km from the B&B. Stage 14 (13.8 km) runs from the Grebbeberg to Ede.
The strolling route curves around the Grote Wiel in Beneden-Leeuwen. In the nineteenth century, drifting ice broke the dyke here. Behind the dike, a gully was created that is also called a wheel or waay.Do the Konik horses or Red Geus cattle graze on the river dunes? Then you should leave it alone. But the dreamy sandy beaches are an excellent alternative for a short stop. The walk continues to the Laakbos in Druten. You can leave the path and have a closer look at the gullies and tichelholes. Then a ferry will take you to the other bank of the Waal.
On the north side of the river you can see the Kapel van IJzendoorn. After an hour you walk into the Willemspolder. The clay from the river area is extremely suitable for baking stones.
The walking route continues along the Prins Bernhard locks. The Amsterdam-Rhine Canal is a busy waterway and the locks ensure that the water is maintained. You cross the canal via the bridge and descend the slope again with a thick rope. A few kilometers further, a ferry takes you over the Waal.
